-
When will Skype service be decommissioned?
We will decomission Skype for Business on Monday, April 20.
-
I have future scheduled meetings in Skype. Will the meeting links still work after Skype service ends?
No. You will need to create new meeting links either using Teams or Zoom.
-
Skype is all setup with groups and favorites. Will that move to Teams?
Unfortunately, your groups and favorites will not move to Teams.
-
When Skype is gone, will my conversation history disappear also?
No. Your conversation history resides in a folder in Outlook. It will remain there. However, it's important to note that Teams conversations are not part of Outlook like they are in Skype. Teams conversations reside in the app itself.
-
What do I do with the Skype app after the service is gone?
If Skype opens automatically for you and is bothersome, uninstall Skype or turn off the setting to start automatically.
-
How do I keep Skype from starting automatically?
- In Skype for Business, choose the tools icon and Tools > Options.
- Choose Personal, then uncheck Automatically start the app when I log on to Windows and Start the app in the foreground.
- Then choose OK.
- Choose File > Exit.
-
Does the TXST Skype for Business decomission impact my personal Skype account?
Microsoft offers two versions of Skype: Skype for Business (the version that TXST used) and Skype (the consumer version). The consumer version of Skype is not impacted by our decommission of Skype for Business at Texas State.

I would prefer to answer Teams calls on my mobile phone, but the phone doesn't ring when someone calls me. What's happening?
If you would like to receive phone calls on your mobile phone, install the Teams app. Log into Teams on your phone and keep the app open; otherwise, calls won't come in on your phone.

The 911 feature is not currently available in Teams phones at TXST. Please use a different phone to dial 911 for an emergency.

If you don't see the dial pad, you may need to log out of Teams and log back in. In the upper right of the screen, click your photo or initials, and click Sign Out.

-
Will Teams start automatically when I log into my computer (like Skype did)?

Phone Service Options at TXST

I have an office phone number, and now I have a Teams phone number. Can you combine them into one number?
Currently, all Teams phone numbers are 512.408.####. If you would like to receive calls made to your office phone line, forward your office phone number to your Teams number.
-
Can I get a shared Teams number for my department's main number?
At this time, all Teams phone numbers are assigned to individuals. If you would like to receive calls made to your department phone number, forward the department phone line to your Teams number to receive those calls.
-
Will Teams phone numbers work for ACD (call center) calling?
At this time, Teams is not considered a workable solution to replace an ACD calling system like the ITAC call center where multiple call center agents log into phones and callers are prompted to press numbers to be routed to different areas.
We are actively seeking an option for ACD calls, especially for employees who need to work remotely.
-
Can Student Employees and Graduate Assistants get Teams phone numbers?
Soon, Student Employees, including Graduate Assistants, will be able to make outgoing phone calls. However, they will not be assigned an incoming phone number.
-
I see that Teams has Voicemail. Does this replace my office phone voicemail?
Teams Voicemail is for calls received to your Teams phone (512.408.####). This is separate from your office phone which uses our TXST Voicemail system. If you would like to combine the two and check voicemail in one system, forward your office phone to your Teams phone number, and let the Teams voicemail be the one service you are using.
