How to Create an Outlook Data File (pst) in Outlook

  1. Open Outlook 2013 or Outlook 2016.
  2. Click Home.

  3. Click New Items.

  4. Highlight More Items, then click Outlook Data File.

  5. Enter a name for your Outlook Data File, then click OK.

    TIP: Check the Add Optional Password checkbox to add a password to your Outlook Data File. You will have to enter the password every time the data file is opened.

  6. If you checked the Add Optional Password checkbox, enter and re-enter the password, then click OK.

    Congratulations! You have successfully created an Outlook Data File.
