Get Started

Faculty, Staff, Students, and those with applicable NetIDs can access Canvas to create and maintain Academic Course and Project Course sites. The TXST community can also invite people outside of the university to collaborate using Guest Accounts.

Get up and running in Canvas by following these quick start steps:

TXST Login

  1. Go to the TXST Login site.
  2. Enter your NetID and password, and click Login.
  3. If prompted, complete Duo login.

Canvas Guest Login

  1. Go to the Guest Login site.
  2. Enter your personal email address and password, and click Log In.
    NOTE: Guests must first be invited to join a site before being able to use Canvas. See step-by-step instructions.

Create an Academic Course

  1. Click Account, and click Site Creation.
  2. Click Academic Course.
  3. Follow the prompts, and click Submit.
  4. If you wish to add a template to your course, do so at this point.
  5. Once your site is created, if you would like to migrate data from TRACS to this site, click Migrate TRACS Content.
  6. Follow the prompts to migrate your data.

Create a Project Course

  1. Click Account, and click Site Creation.
  2. Click New Project Course.
  3. Follow the prompts, and click Submit.
  4. If you wish to add a template to your course, do so at this point.
  5. Once your site is created, if you would like to migrate data from TRACS to this site, click Migrate TRACS Content.
  6. Follow the prompts to migrate your data.

Moving Data is Easy with the Migration Assistant

If you have content in a TRACS Course or Project Site that you would like to move to Canvas, use the Migration Assistant. Depending on the complexity of your site, you may need to do some content re-organization. This is a good opportunity to re-evaluate your site structures. Learn what to expect when you move content from TRACS to Canvas.

Where's My Course? (for Students)

As instructors work to move courses from TRACS to Canvas throughout 2020, students may have some courses in TRACS and others in Canvas. The Where's My Course? tool helps students locate courses in TRACS and Canvas.
