TXST Plan for Adobe CC 2018 License Expiration

The Adobe CC 2018 license for computer labs and shared computers expires November 29, 2020. Labs and shared computers will need to update to the Adobe CC Shared Device License (SDL). We have set a campus goal for TXST computers to upgrade to Adobe CC SDL by end of summer 2020.

Project Timeline

To assist our campus community with the Adobe CC 2018 license expiration, we have established the following project timeline:

  • December 13, 2019 - Adobe CC 2018 serialized license no longer distributed.
  • End of Summer 2020 - Campus goal for computer labs and shared computers to upgrade to the Adobe CC SDL version.
  • November 29, 2020 - Adobe CC 2018 serialized license expires with Adobe.

FAQs

What is the difference between the Adobe CC 2018 shared license and Adobe Shared Device License (SDL)?

The Adobe SDL license offers more apps that better align with the Adobe CC Desktop App which is what employees get at Texas State. Apps such as XD and Premiere Rush are part of the SDL license. These and others are not included in the Adobe CC 2018 shared license. See the comparison chart here

Do I need to log out of an SDL app after I am finished using it?

Yes. You can be logged into Adobe on two computers at a time. However, it is recommended to sign out of the app after each use. If you log into Adobe on a third computer, a pop-up window will appear asking you to log out of another device to continue.

When I log into Adobe, will I need to use NetID 2-Step?

Faculty, Staff, Student Employees, and Graduate Assistants will need to be prepared to use NetID 2-Step when logging into an Adobe app on an SDL computer. The easiest way to accomplish this is by always having your mobile device with you so you can accept the Duo mobile app prompt or receive a call or text message to complete the login process.

Students who are not employees do not have to use NetID 2-Step at this time.

I purchased my own Adobe subscription. Can I log in with my Adobe ID?

No. You will need to sign in with your TXST email address in the labs and classrooms. See How to Log Into an Adobe App Using an Open Lab or Classroom Computer.

My TXST email address is also my Adobe ID. What do I do?

After you enter your TXST email address on the Adobe login screen, if you are given the option between logging in with an Adobe ID or your Enterprise ID, choose Enterprise ID.
